I had so much fun photographing Shana + Ken’s unique and intimate New York City wedding, on a cold and snowy day in February. The entire event was planned by Dev Brumberger of Freckles, Wit & Co. I can’t say enough about what a beautiful job she did. From the details and personal touches, to the venue, music, and food – she did an absolutely wonderful job. Our day started at the Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District, where Shana got ready and put on her dress, and I got to shoot some of her details. Her and Ken are big Guinness lovers, and Shana had the pint glass he proposed to her with that said “Marry Me?” on the bottom, as well as some of the beer on hand. Later in the afternoon Ken met up with us at the hotel for a first look before we headed to the ceremony at The Park Restaurant in Chelsea. It was a great space for their wedding – originally a taxi garage, it’s now a multilevel restaurant with an indoor garden, a glass ceiling, and a romantic, candlelit penthouse. It’s a beautiful space filled with dark wood, string lights and greenery, and set the mood for Shana + Ken’s wedding perfectly. After their ceremony where they exchanged handwritten vows, we did some quick portraits before starting the party. Shana + Ken’s family and friends could not have been more happy about the union, and they filled room with laughter, dancing, and heartfelt words about the couple. From the toasts and all the moments I witnessed, I could see that not only is this couple so in love, but they are truly loved and supported by those around them. And just in case you couldn’t tell from the peanut costume, they are also a lot of fun. I know they will have a long and happy life together!
