When my sister’s mother in-law Becky asked me if I could take some photos of her dog’s puppies, I was thrilled. When she mentioned she’d like to do some with her grandchildren too (which includes my nieces & their cousins), I was even more thrilled. Between the kids and the dogs, I had just the cutest models! Jersey is a blue and white English Setter. She’s sweet, pretty, good-natured, and a wonderful mama. Jersey has won a lot of awards and is a Grand Champion through the American Kennel Club. Last year she was even on a tv commercial during the Thanksgiving Parade for the National Dog Show, so it was hard not to be star struck when I met her. The drooling did help to make me more comfortable :]
Her boyfriend Dublin (aka doggy daddy) was there too, and it was really sweet to watch this family of dogs interacting together. Jersey has good taste, because Dublin is also a Grand Champion English Setter. I loved seeing the little pups would follow Dublin and Jersey around the yard (which was a dog oasis), and how Jersey kept a close watch on all of her pups. Becky’s yard is enormous and has a lot of nooks and crannies for everyone to get into. It was beautifully landscaped, and the perfect setting. The shoot was much harder than I anticipated, and I learned that photographing dogs is a lot like herding cats. I also learned that each one of the kids really, really, really wants a puppy, and even the baby seemed very into them. Without further ado, here are some of my favorite photos of Jersey, Dublin, Keira, Spotty, Elwood/Woodie, Jake, the kids.
