On a warm Spring day I met up Jenn + Andy in Princeton for their engagement session. Princeton offers so many beautiful backdrops, so we had no shortage of spots to check out. We started at Princeton University, which always reminds me of a college you would see in a movie. I loved how Jenn’s white dress popped against all the greenery. We had so much fun walking around the campus, until we made our way onto Nassau Street to check out the main strip of town. I loved getting to know this couple – they are sweet and easy going and have so much style! Posing them was so easy – you can really feel the love between them. They’re in the midst of planning their September wedding, which I am sure is going to be a blast.
I’ve been a little bit off the radar lately, but with good reason – in November we welcomed Sam to our family! I felt like I would be pregnant forever, but eventually Sam made his grand appearance. Becoming a mom has changed a lot of things around here, but one thing it made me realize was that I love photographing babies. Those little feet and hands, sleepy eyes, and first yawns and smiles are all so much fun to capture. I am amazed that the little peanut we brought home on Thanksgiving is now a 16 lb baby. They change so fast, and it is so important to capture them while they are little. That brings me to a very special announcement: I am now offering in home lifestyle sessions for new parents. As new mom myself, I understand the importance of patience + timing, and can’t wait to photograph families as they bond with their newest bundles of joy! For more information on these sessions, please contact me.
On a misty, rainy day in September, Maria + David got married at the historic Flanders Hotel in Ocean City. They have so much style and personality, and after their engagement session, I was really looking forward to this wedding. Unfortunately, after some pregnancy complications landed me in the hospital, I had to find a replacement photographer just one week before Maria and David’s big day. It felt like a huge disaster and I was so upset I was going to have to miss their big day. That’s where Lauren Allmond Photography came in. Lauren agreed to photograph the wedding for me, and she did such a beautiful job. I am amazed not only by her creativity, but also by the kindness she has shown me. As I edited her wonderful photos, I felt like I was at the wedding and experiencing it all. I was left with some questions (what song did David perform for Maria??, why was someone wearing a fish head??, can I be friends with this bridal party??), but they just add to the mystery. Maria and David handled the situation with such gracefulness and and so much understanding. Even though I didn’t get to shoot their wedding, I will never forget how fun it looked or how nice they were about the entire situation. I wish them a big congratulations – I know they are going to have the most awesome marriage.
A few weeks ago in September, Kara and Matt had one of the most memorable weddings I’ve had the honor to be a part of. Aside from a day filled with impeccable style and attention to detail, it was an emotional day filled with love, family, and friends. They got married at The Garrison, which made for the most beautiful backdrop for their wedding. It was a very warm day (especially for this pregnant lady), but Kara & Matt and their bridal party were such good sports about the heat. Kara and Matt had a first look and then we went around the gorgeous property there to take some portraits. I could not get over how stunning the views of the Hudson Valley were. There were so many good spots I could have spent all day doing portraits. But before long, the strings were playing and Kara and Matt were exchanging personal wedding vows in front of their family and friends. Their ceremony was one I will remember for a long, long time. Next up it was time to party. The reception area was FILLED with personal details, family photos, gorgeous flowers, sunflower seed placecards and more, which I’m told was all due to Kara’s mom. The thought and attention she must have put into them was incredible, and made the wedding extra-special. I loved working with Kara and Matt. The special bond they have is so obvious, even in the way they look at each other. They are just really good, nice people, and I am so happy I got to tell their story. I can’t wait to see what the future brings them and wish them the best marriage ever.
