Meggin + Terre

Posted June 28, 2016 | Category: Weddings

Meggin and Terre were married in May in Beach Haven, NJ, with on of the most personal, thoughtful weddings I have been a part of. The day was filled with beach-y, rustic, and romantic elements, and of course a ton of DIY! We started off at the Hydrangea House, a beautiful Victorian bed and breakfast near the beach, where Meggin and her girls got ready. The house had a beautiful wrap around porch that I was able to use for her details and group photos. About those details! Meggin made her flower crown herself, along with wands for the flower girls to to carry, and hangers for the bridesmaids’ dresses. The watercolor invitations were painted by the bride herself, inspired by a flower brooch that was her grandmother’s. Meggin brought the brooch to wear on her bouquet, along with a doily that her grandmother’s, so I used these items when photographing the invitations. The porch was the perfect place to shoot the gorgeous flowers, the bridesmaids dresses, and all of the other special things for the day. Meggin and Terre and had their first look on the porch, before we headed to the beach for some portraits.

After all the photos, we headed to the Boathouse Restaurant, where the ceremony and reception would be held. Again, I could not get over the attention to detail. Meggin is a very talented artist and calligrapher, and she used those talents to create menus, various signs, table numbers, large quotes hung on the wall, chair signs, and the favors. She also made beautiful dreamcatchers used as a ceremony backdrop. The amount of DIY was simply amazing. The centerpieces included rosemary and bark, a nod to Terre’s love of gardening and nature, and Meggin’s love of cooking. Jugs of “marriage mead” also sat on the tables, made by Meggin’s father for the toasts. The ceremony was officiated by Terre’s father, and was incredibly special to witness. Everything about ceremony and the wedding reflected their personalities. The love this couple has for each other is so obvious, along with how important their family and friends are in their lives. As beautiful as everything they created for this wedding was, more beautiful was the bond Meggin and Terre share, and I know their love will last a lifetime. Congratulations to you both!

Lauren + Fernando

Posted January 20, 2016 | Category: Weddings

When I met them last summer, I knew they were cool. After their two part engagement session, I liked them even more, but nothing prepared me for how awesome their wedding would be. Lauren + Fernando were married in November at the Shadowbrook in Shrewsbury, NJ. I’m not sure if they made it official, but I saw the theme of the day as red lips/big beard. From their stationary, to marquee lights, to Photo Booth props, and even cookies(!) – those lips and that beard were everywhere. It was fitting and it was amazing. It was a cold day, but these two were troopers, even holding their ceremony outside at night. I was so glad they opted to shoot outside, because the timing was perfect and there was the most beautiful sunset during their portraits, which created the coolest sun flare. Their ceremony was also incredibly unique and romantic, lit by only a few lights, which set a really nice mood. From there it was time to party, and party did they ever! After some touching toasts from friends and family, Lauren + Fernando hit the dance floor and so did their guests.  These people really knew how to cut a rug, and the dance floor was never empty. I had such a fantastic time at their wedding and getting to know Lauren + Fernando this past year – I wish them the best of luck in their marriage!  A special shoutout goes to my second shooter on this wedding, whose work is mixed in with mine below. Thank you Liz for your amazing work! To see more of Liz’s photography work, please her website here.

2015 Favorites

Posted December 22, 2015 | Category: Life of AMC

2015 was a year filled with inspiration, growth, and change. It was a terrific year. I am so thankful that I got to be part of so many beautiful weddings and engagements and meet such wonderful couples. This year I met a lot of great people who really touched my life. I cannot thank my clients enough for putting their trust in me to photograph their weddings. Below are some of my favorite photos from this past year. As I look back on 2015 I cannot believe how fast the year has gone by and while I feel sad to leave it behind, I am looking forward to a 2016 filled with happy couples, wonderful weddings, and lots of cat pics.

rebecca + michael

Posted December 3, 2015 | Category: Weddings

I cannot say enough about Rebecca and Michael and their gorgeous wedding in October. They were married at the incredibly unique Metropolitan Building in Long Island City on Halloween. Built in 1909, the building was originally a factory for electrical parts. Today it’s a prop house and event space, and a wonderland with something special around every corner. It’s no wonder magazines like Vogue use it for photo shoots. It was the perfect space to compliment Rebecca and Michael’s elegant, chic style. I first met this couple when I did their engagement photos in Chinatown back in July. Over the past several months learned they are intelligent. empathetic, kind and funny people. Their style is out of this world. For their wedding day, Rebecca wore a reworked prom dress from the 1950s made by Shareen, while Michael wore a custom suit, matching his best man/son’s attire. Her dress was unlike anything I had ever seen, and had very unique gold leather straps that matched the ribbons hanging from her bouquet. Speaking of which, Rebecca’s bouquet and the florals were unbelievably beautiful – designed by Chris at Hessney & Co Event Design.

Before their ceremony we had a lot of fun exploring the space, making some really cool portraits. There was eye candy everywhere. From a hallway of mirrors, to a room full of antique chairs, the venue was a dreamland. Before long, surrounded by their family and friends, Rebecca and Michael were married in a personal, intimate ceremony officiated by the groom’s brother. The love this couple has for each other is so strong, and the support and joy of their loved ones really filled the air. During the cocktail hour an amazing band played, and before long it was time for the reception. The reception was a gorgeous candlelit, flower filled spaced surrounded by bookcases. This was a group that really liked to dance, and their was even a special performance of “Watch Me (whip)” by Michael’s son as his toast. It was probably the best toast I’ve seen at a wedding, and the guests loved it. It was such a privilege to be able to shoot this wedding. Rebecca and Michael are a special couple that had a very special wedding. I am so happy for them and wish them the best marriage ever!
